Dale Reynolds founded Mastercraft in 1971 in Shipshewana, Indiana, where one of the factories is still located. Dale knew he could immediately make waves in the struggling market by upping the quality level immediately. From frame to fabric, he improved every aspect of standard RV furnishings and gained many customers that remain loyal to this day.
Dale’s son, Clif Reynolds, joined Mastercraft in 1981 and became president in 1985. Clif brought a fresh perspective to mobile home interiors and introduced new design ideas that the industry had never seen. Perceptions about RVs and the industry were slowly changing thanks to Mastercraft’s innovative approach to style and practicality.
Clif improved quality even further in the 1990s and 2000s, establishing a lifetime guarantee on furniture frames, which stands today. He rationalized manufacturing, making Mastercraft facilities some of the most efficient in the world. In 2003, Mastercraft dealt with a fire that destroyed 80% of its manufacturing capability. However, because of the dedication and work ethic of the Mastercraft employees, Mastercraft continues to be a leader in the RV business keeping innovation and value a priority.
